WHY THIS MOMENT MATTERS
Tesla’s Robotaxi network is now operating across multiple U.S. markets, Cybercab has entered passenger service, and Tesla is beginning to collect interest around future commercial opportunities.
The next major questions are economic: Who can participate, what will ownership cost, and how will the network economics work?
THE QUESTION HAS CHANGED.
Not simply: “Will Robotaxi become real?”
But: “Who will be able to participate — and what will the economics look like?”
The opportunity isn’t fully defined yet. That’s exactly why the assumptions matter.

QUESTIONS WORTH ASKING
Robotaxi is moving quickly, but important details about private ownership, pricing and network economics are still developing. Here's what we know — and what we don't.
Not through Tesla's normal public vehicle-ordering process today. Tesla is currently inviting people interested in purchasing an individual Cybercab or a Cybercab fleet for commercial purposes to submit their interest, after which a representative may contact them. Final ordering, pricing and delivery details for outside buyers have not yet been published.
Tesla is now explicitly collecting interest from people and businesses interested in individual or fleet Cybercab purchasing for commercial purposes. That is a meaningful development, but Tesla has not yet published the final third-party operating model, network access terms, owner requirements or revenue-sharing structure.
Tesla has not published a final outside-buyer purchase price. The financial model included with the Playbook currently uses a $30,000-per-vehicle placeholder for scenario analysis, based on Tesla's previously discussed sub-$30,000 target. It is not a confirmed MSRP, quote or purchase offer.
Nobody can responsibly give a guaranteed number yet. Potential economics would depend on utilization, rider pricing, Tesla or network fees, insurance, charging, maintenance, cleaning, downtime and other operating factors. The Playbook's financial model is designed to let you test different assumptions instead of relying on a single earnings prediction.
That is why the website calculator and the full model label results as hypothetical rather than expected income.

Tesla currently lists autonomous Robotaxi rides in Austin, Dallas, Houston, Miami, Orlando and Tampa. Cybercab itself is currently available for rides only in limited areas of Austin, while the other listed markets currently use Model Y vehicles.
